A 16 year old girl Shinjini Sengupta paralyzed after being rejected by the judges in a reality show. She had taken part in a dance competition owned by a Bengali TV and was rebuked by one of the judges as poor performer. She was seen in a state of huge shock after the show and was taken to Medical Research Institute in Calcutta on June 11 for treatment. But since she lost her ability to speak and found difficulty in recognizing people she was readmitted on June 23rd for anti-psyche treatment. Now she is in NIMHANS hospital in Bangalore battling for her life. This incident has created waves of shock among the parents. Shinjini showed signs of movement yesterday after a huge struggle.
"We have to conduct a few more tests before we can diagnose what her problem is", said DR. B N Gangadhar, the superintendent of Nimhans.
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights has asked for an explanation from the producers of the dance contest and Shinjini's parents on the entire issue since her parents have blamed the judges for their daughter's condition.
